Genocide Law: By Lea, Jessica, and Brookelyn
All members of the united nations, without fault, regarding the future prospect of genocide, will act in accordance to the new law, which was brought forth in light of the Rwandan genocide, where there was a atrocious lack of interference from the UN. It will be counted as genocide when a hundred people (at the minimum) of the same ethnic, racial, religious, or national group are targeted and killed based on the factors described above. The head count will be preformed by a neutral party (Example being the Red Cross) for a fair and un-partial number. When it reaches a hundred, each member of the nations must contribute to the protection and aid of the victims of the situation, to stop the killing. The bare minimum each country can produce are as follows: A few hundred armed military personal (If the country had an active military), medical aid for the sick and dying, money to help the cause (amount can depend on richness of country, accompanied with nation debt), and national support and recognition of the problem at hand.
Another responsibility of the UN members will be to keep an eye open for any of the possible warning signs of genocide, and reporting it, so that when it does reach a hundred, we as a world are ready to act.

Post-Genocide Rwanda
1.) In what ways did genocide impact the development of this “developing” country?
It stopped the developing of the country cause there was no government , hospitals, schools, shelters, food programs, or factories. Also there wasn’t water, telephones, and electricity.
2.) Where does the rebuilding of a country shattered by genocide begin? What can the people do? What can the government do? What can the international community do?
It begins with the survivors of the genocide. The people can just try to rebuild their lives back. The government also has to get back together and find people houses and food. The international community needs to send over volunteers for hospitals and nurses, and food and water.
3.) How can justice be found in post-genocide Rwanda?
It can be found by having people in charge knowing what to do. The community courts with the judges being people from the community. International courts are by the nation and are more serious.
4.) Which can bring justice to the people of Rwanda more effectively- international courts or community courts? Explain.
Community courts because those are led by people in the community and they saw and know what happen during the genocide. Also the courts will go by quicker cause they probably won’t go so in depth with everything. They get to put the bad people in jail and get their revenge on the people who started the genocide.

The International Community’s Response
1.) When did UN officials receive warning about the genocide?
The knew it was going to happen 3 months before, because a person told them and asked for troops and held. The UN ignored them and then 3 months later it came true.
2.) Besides the warning given by one of the planners, what were other warning signs of the genocide?
The training of militia in Rwanda, perpetrators gave weapons aways openly, the government sent hate propaganda through the radio, and death lists were made with addresses of Tutsis that should die.
3.) How did state-sponsored propaganda present the Tutsi group?
They showed the Tutsis as evil, manipulative people. Also their goal was to regain power to hurt the Hutu. They said you have to shorten the Tutsis. Which that meant kill them.
4.) What prevented the international community from calling the violence in Rwanda “genocide”? What would have happened if they had?
After the Holocaust when 6 million jews died the international community adopted and agreement which supporters thought would ensure that genocide would never happen again. We would have got very involved with the genocide and could of stopped the radio broadcasts and our troops could have overwhelmed their weak troops. If we did call it a genocide we maybe could of put in a stop to it.
5.) Once the international community withdrew its troop, what did the militia decide to do?
They decided to intensify the genocide by targeting the resisters and officials who tried to stop the genocide.
6.) Who does President Clinton say must share responsibility for the genocide?
He must share responsibility for the genocide because they did not act fast enough to stop it, also they should have called it by its rightful name a genocide. They let the killers act fast enough to make the refugee camps safe heavens for them.

Valentina’s Story
1.) Imagine that you were Valentina. What would you do or say if you were confronted by Bagaruka in the village after the genocide?
I would probably wouldn’t stand up and say stop cause I would be to afraid. I guess I would give him the money and hope for the best that I didn’t die. If I did stand up I would probably die even though it is for a good cause for the people I still couldn’t do it. Just give the money and hope for the best.
2.) Put yourself in the shoes of Denis Bagaruka. How could you kill all of these innocent people? What would you have to do to create a mindset that would make it possible for you to murder innocent women, men, and children?
I really don’t think I would be able to kill all those people. I guess to get my mindset to do that I would have to get big power and ruling over the country. Still it is very wrong it would be hard to convince me to kill innocent people.
3.) What kind of punishment should Bagaruka be given?
I think Bagaruka should be sentenced to death he killed people so his life should be taken away too.
4.) Try to put yourself in Valentina’s shoes. It is three years after the end of the genocide. In what ways does the genocide still impact your daily life?
I bet every day a tustsi can still make fun of her and think that they are better then her. Also I probably would be scarred for life seeing people die right in front of your face that is hard to get out of your head. It would be hard to trust people again knowing they could easily take your stuff or life away right before your eyes.

“U.S relations with China is a necessary evil”
United States and China have always been fighting for the top spot. United States and china have totally different ways though. China will not go by our western ways. I don’t think it matters tough cause there way is working just as well as ours. It may be a mean and forceful way but they are a very smart country. Everything now of days says made in china so they must rack in a lot of money. China has many exports and even imports. So if you get China mad they may end up not suppling you with the stuff you need, they have plenty of other countries to export too so they won’t be in a huge dept.
China has been in a lot of wars and rebellions and they are turning out fine. Also China had a revolution in the 1900’s. Sun Yat-sen wanted the government to change and get Qing Dynasty out of the government. Sun Yat-sen had 3 goals to end foreign domination, form a representative government, and create economic security. In 1911 Yat-sen became the new president of the Chinese Republic.
Nationalist and Communists tried to unite with China. Nationalist and communists started becoming enemies they couldn’t work together. The civil war lasted for 22 years, nationalists vs. communists.
United States was in the cold war with china. The United States didn’t even recognize china. Then when they went into the Korean War China and the United States like different sides. Like South Korea and North Korea.
China’s work habits are a lot different from the United States. China only pays there workers very low cash and then sell if for higher prices so they make easy profits. The United states pay their people more money then China so the United States have to sell there products higher then China. So every Country wants to buy China’s products more then United States because its cheaper.
U.S has some good relations with china but its not all bad and not all good. Our trading is a good relation with china. China has those bad sweat shops though but they do make them a lot of money. We both have some bad government choices too. China’s government was really bad it practically started a war.
